Relative Pronouns in Arabic

These are extremely common in the Quran and connect clauses:

ArabicMeaning
ٱلَّذِيWho / Which / That (m. sg.)
ٱلَّتِيWho / Which / That (f. sg.)
ٱلَّذِينَThose who / The ones who (m. pl.)
ٱلَّذَاتِThose who (f. pl.)

Examples from the Quran:

ٱلْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ ٱلَّذِي خَلَقَ ٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِ — All praise to Allah who created the heavens. (Quran 35:1)

ٱلَّذِينَ آمَنُوا وَعَمِلُوا ٱلصَّٰلِحَٰتِ — Those who believe and do righteous deeds. (Quran 2:25)
